ATTENTION:
----------
In past releases of Stowaway, the Stowaway files HAD
to be located in \STOWAWAY. Now, Stowaway looks for the help
files and the indexes in the directory where STOW.EXE is
located. This means that if you want to continue using the
indexes from previous versions of Stowaway, you must either put
STOW.EXE in the \STOWAWAY directory, or copy the indexes to the
location of STOW.EXE.
If you have any questions regarding any of this material, PLEASE
call us at 714-352-2820.
Version 1.91
------------
Fixes:
o Fixed a problem with deleting files from archives
o Restoring files that came from a drive that no longer
exists would cause problems. Fixed.
o When restoring, if you want to put the files from
other drives onto the same directory structure of a
DIFFERENT drive, just specify the drive letter in the
target directory restore field.
Version 1.90
------------
Enhancments:
o Added NEW AUTO RESTORE capability. Now, Stowaway
will archive files, and a TSR called Auto Restore can
be installed to automatically restore files that you
or any application attempts to access. For more
information, see AUTOREST.INF. This option is set in
the "Specify system options" menu.
o Added advanced options for more flexible operation.
Added were:
Media type
directory to archive to
Default sort order
o 4Dos description support is now available. Stowaway
will automatically extract and use 4DOS descriptons when
appropriate. (See advanced options to set this flag)
o Added print to file as well as LTP1 and LPT2 in the
restore lists.
Version 1.85ß
-------------
This version is being released as an interim release. Many
changes were made to fairly critical areas of the code, that we
would like to publish this version as a test version. We have
tested it extensivly and have had normal operation, so we hope
that our concern will be unwarranted.
Fixes:
Groups were limited to 200 in number. If exceeded,
garbage was displayed on the screen. Changed to 500,
with further increases expected in a subsequent release.
F9 was fixed in Restore, so that it would work in
Restore mode as well as list mode.
Enhancements:
I/O was further buffered to increase speed and
performance.
Several minor cosemetic changes have been made to the
archive/restore processing screen.
Version 1.8
-----------
Enhancments:
Starting with this release, a new Stowaway utility is
now available. This program STOWRGEN.EXE is used to
recover your archive indexes when both the hard disk
copy and the floppy disk copy are either lost or
corrupted. This utility is FREE with a Stowaway
registration or can be obtained from Patri-Soft BBS.
Now you can print a record of your archive indexes! In
the restore or the list facitlity, press <F8> to print
out the current information about all of the listed
files!
Added continuous No replace for overlaying files on
restore.
Fixes:
When archiving from the command line, Stowaway would
crash.
Command line restore was repaired and is now working
properly.
When restoring files without listing them, the very LAST
file in the list was not selected for restore.
At times, the group processing screen was filled with
garbage. This cause related minor problems, and is not
corrected.
While listing files to be restored, 'T' and 'U' cause
Stowaway to crash.
Stowaway behaived erratically when press ESC on the
second (or later) disk mount request.
When in group processing, you could "delete" the line
which adds a group
When listing files and viewing the group name that they
are in, if the group had been deleted, garbage was
displayed.
Restore sometime had problems with I/O recovery.
After archiving, if a directory tree was empty, the top
directory may not have been removed if there were empty
subs below it.
When the option to verify the volume by re-reading it
was turned on, a disk may not have been verified until
it was completely full.
Version 1.70
------------
Fixes:
When restoring indexes under an alternate ID, the
indexes were restored with the main index names. Fixed
to be restored with the current ID, no matter what ID
they were archived under.
Enhancments:
Implemented I/O buffering on restore to increase
performance.
When archiving, an unlimited number of files can be
archived using the automatic scanning menu option or the
command line. Previously, Stowaway was limited by
memory to processing only 1700 files.
Restore can list an unlimited number of files at any
time. Previously restore was limited to 1500 files due
to memory restrictions. Now, the restore list is kept
on disk, which sacrifices performance, but allows to
process large amount of files.
Version 1.53 - Version 1.60 (1.53 not released for general
------------ distibutions)
Fixes:
The input form in the "list archived files" menu option
had no mention on how to continue, only on how to go
back. Changed to reflect the proper instructions.
During restore and listing of archived files, F9, now
returns to the "group processing" screen, enabling you
to quickly switch between groups. (if restoring, all
tagged files are lost)
When press F6 for alternate information in restore, all
information was not always cleared properly.
When using the "Automatic scanning" to archive files, if
the path was not complete, it caused later problems on
restore/verify etc. Fixed so that the path is ALWAYS
complete with drive letter and full path name.
Due to a bug in Borland's Turbo C++ version 1.0, 2.0, and
3.0, I/O errors were not properly processed. By
reverting to an early version of Turbo C, the problem
was circumvented.
Disks were sometimes not properly formatted.
Enhancements:
Stowaway will ask to remove directories after archival
if they are empty.
Version 1.5
-----------
Fixes:
Stowaway had problems restoring files archive on an 8088
class machine. T
